PREDICTION CRITERIA & ACCURACY

What happens if I only get part of the prediction right?

Partially correct predictions won’t qualify for the $1,000. However, you could still win the $500 “best prediction” award if your reasoning is strong and the Jury finds it exceptional.

What does it mean to “correctly predict” a Nobel Prize?

A prediction is considered fully correct if you:

  1. Name at least one of the actual laureates (if multiple laureates share the prize), or
  2. Identify the specific field or discovery recognized by the Nobel Committee.

What counts as “correct” for the $1,000 prize?

Either predicting the exact laureate(s) by name or the specific area of discovery recognized by the Nobel Committee.

PRIZES

How does the prize structure work for each category?

  • $1,000 Prize – Accurate Prediction
    • Awarded to any high school or undergraduate participant who correctly predicts at least one laureate or the recognized field.
    • If multiple participants have correct guesses, a tie-break applies (depth of explanation, then submission timing, then Jury review).
  • $500 Prize – “Best Prediction” (If No One is Accurate)
    • If no one in a category predicts the laureate or field correctly, a single $500 prize goes to the best overall submission (based on logic, originality, scientific insight).
  • $50 Gift Cards – Always Awarded
    • Regardless of accurate predictions, 5 gift cards per category (total 15 across all categories) will be given for creative or otherwise standout submissions chosen by the Jury.

Are there any fees or taxes I need to be aware of?

  • Transfer Fees: If any fees to transfer prize money, will be deducted from the prize.
  • Taxes: In some countries, prizes may be considered taxable income. Please consult local regulations or a tax professional if you’re unsure. Science Bridges is not responsible for any taxes.
